dentist disaster

this morning i went to the dentist for 72 minutes. and man it was horrible. i usually do not mind the dentist, but today it was my first truly horrible dentist visit. this is nothing against my wonderful dentist (and bishop). i walked in, sat down, was numbed all up, was given the laughing gas tube, and then left in the chair for a good 9 minutes, without the hygienist and dentist, while the numbing settled in. these 9 minutes are the minutes i would like to expound on.
  • minute #1: put on my headphones to watch the t.v. screen up in the ceiling
  • minute #2: started watching a classic episode of "Home Improvement"
  • minute #3: laughed at a comment the character Tim said on his Home Improvement show, realizing my right side of my smile remained straight rather than turned up.
  • minute #4: my hand holding the t.v. remote started feeling fuzzy & numb
  • minute #5: my feet, legs, arms started feeling fuzzy & numb
  • minute #6: i gagged in my mouth (not pleasant)
  • minute #7: i stood up out of my chair, detached the laughing gas tube, took out the t.v. headphones, and would of fallen over if there was not a counter top there to catch me.
  • minute #8: i threw up in the very small 1 ft. by 1 ft. round sink, while the dentist was talking to his patient right there (embarassing)
  • minute #9: i sat back down in my chair with a not so yummy taste and throw up plastered to the right side of my mouth, that i did not know was there because it was so numb
apparently i threw up because of the laughing gas (laughing gas should not be called laughing gas because it is CLEARLY not funny) and because i had not eaten anything prior going to the dentist. the rest of my trip was good, the filling did not hurt and went well thanks to my wonderful dentist! But sadly, i now will be much more nervous to go to the dentist and i will no longer be answering yes when the hygienist asks "would you like laughing gas?"

  1. Sad for you, but funny to me. LOL! I remember having some type of gas at the dentist once and it made me think the dentist was wearing a clown nose. Weird.
