Nixon's Blessing

On the second Sunday of April, we name and blessed Nixon. His blessing was such a good day! We originally wanted to bless Nixon when he was two months old so that he would sleep and be calm for his blessing. But due to his RSV and hospital visit we had to postpone it until April when he was just a couple days shy of 4 months old. We were so worried that Nixon would cry and wail the whole way through his whole blessing. During the blessing it is tradition to have the baby laydown and all the priesthood holders hold him. Nixon is older now and not much of a fan of laying on his back. He likes to be up and looking around. Our little Nixon tends to be a sensitive dude. He can be smiley and incredibly happy one second then the next is crying and demanding food or a diaper change or something! So this moment and day was so special because Nixon was a little angel.

It was so special to see all the powerful and strong men in Nixon's life circled around him and holding him while Matson gave him a name and a blessing. It just made me so happy. Some of my favorite things from Nixon's blessing that I loved:

1. Later hearing that Nixon was on the verge of crying until Matson started the blessing. Kind of sweet that Matson's voice (or possibly the little bit of rocking that the men were doing) calmed him.

2. Matson blessing Nixon with "the qualities and traits of our Savior, Jesus Christ."

3. Matson blessing Nixon with a "desire to do what is right."

After Nixon's blessing we headed to our house for a brunch. My loving mother made loads of Eggcellent (an egg, ham, cheese, and potato mix) that is just "eggscellent"! We used that to make breakfast burritos. It was yummy! Something else I did that I want to do at all of my future kid's baby blesssings is I bought an LDS children's book to have all the guests sign so that he will always know who was there on his blessing day!

I kind of regret not taking more pictures. I have like 40 of Nixon but not of everyone else and the event. It was so special to have both our grandpa's in the circle along with our dad's and all our brothers. My brother from California came for it and it was so special to have everyone there!

'N' Cookies for Nixon! Thanks T* for making them!

Matson's Grandpa and family drove down from Brigham City/Logan to come!
This picture just shows you how tired our boy was. He skipped a nap and was so tired!

My Baby Boy's Shower

One Month! My due date is in one month away from today exactly. Cue the explosives. Mind blown.

I think back to the day that I found out that I was pregnant and it feels like a long time ago. But then again it doesn't. This pregnancy has flown by so quickly for me. I feel like I have so much to get done before he arrives and not enough time to do it. I swear most first time moms have their nurseries decorated, hospital bags packed, and have accomplished all their baby book reading months before their due date. I on the other hand just barely started working on the nursery decor, haven't even thought about a hospital bag, and am on the second chapter of one of the baby books I want to read (I should probably just realize now that I am only going to read one or maybe even just half of one of the many suggested to me).

In other words, I was feeling soooo unprepared until my baby showers! Two weeks ago my mom's friends from the ward I grew up in threw me the nicest luncheon shower! I was gifted the cutest things! And last week I was showered with love by our friends and family at a baby shower thrown by my sisters. It was literally the cutest little boy shower I have ever been to! I left the shower feeling so loved. I already have this Mother Hen feeling where I just want everyone to love our little baby boy and at the end of the night I really did feel so loved and that everyone is just as excited for him to come as I am.

The shower was adorable! I am so grateful, happy, and now just anxious to get organizing/nesting!
The invites made by my talented and very artsy sis-in-law!
She also did the calligraphy on the envelopes.
The cute napkin/plastic ware bowties!

They had baby pictures of Matson & I all over!

This is the ONLY picture I got of the diaper cake my sis-in-law made me!
Matson and I both are obsessed with the football beanie she had made for the top!
So much so that Matson buckled him in for the ride home. Safety first!
I wish I had a picture of the clothes line hanging from the mantel behind us! It was so cute - they hung the most adorable little clothes, bib, and shoes from it!

Thank you so much. I meant the world to me to everyone that came and especially to my sisters and mama for all that they did!

A Baby Shower for the Best Girl

My sis in law, N*, is having her baby soon! Therefore, we had to shower her and my first future niece with love. We planned for the shower to be outside but due to Utah's sketchy weather we moved things more inside. I loved everything about this shower. The food, the guests, the colors, the flowers, and everything about it. I am so happy for my sis in law and honestly can't wait to meet my little niece soon (and when I say soon I seriously mean soon).

It's A...Boy // A "Firework" Themed Gender Reveal Party

It's a...BOY!

On July 8th was a big day. It was the day that Matson and I found out what our little "firecracker" is! I whipped up an invitation on the app Studio and we sent out the invite for the event via text message (we only had a few days). Then finally July 8th came. I went to the ultrasound with my mom. I needed someone there with me to make sure I didn't find out and to be the one to know to help with the reveal later on!  Before even going into the ultrasound room, I told the ultrasound tech that I didn't want to know but that my mom did want to know. The ultrasound tech was very nice and let me watch as she showed us a few different parts of the baby's body. She even measured our baby and told me that the baby was measuring big. The cutest thing was right before we were about to end the ultrasound, the baby crossed its' legs. The ultrasound tech printed the pictures and kept the "gender ones" inside of an envelope that my mom kept.

The Invitation

The ultrasound was such a great experience. I honestly feel like my mom loved it too. I felt like we could just sit there and watch the ultrasound all day long. It seriously made the pregnancy feel real. Like I really am growing a human being in me and it looks like a human now instead of a small weird rodent.

Later that night we started our gender reveal party. The theme for our party was "Baby You're A Firework." We had everyone guess if it was a boy or girl and then they wore whatever they guessed. They wore a little necklace with a blue or pink pacifier around their necks. Matson and I both guessed blue.

We also had our guests give some name suggestions for our future little one! I loved this because I really love to hear other names that we haven't even thought about.

We served soft serve ice cream with different toppings and other yummy desserts. And, of course, blue and pink lemonade.

After our guests arrived and made their guesses, we started the reveal. My mom and brother headed with some fireworks and the two mortars - a pink one labeled "girl" and a blue one labeled "boy." We all then waited for the actual reveal. A big blue firework went off to reveal that we are having a boy! We are thrilled and so blessed! Can't wait for our little bud!

Now, I want to know...did you reveal your baby's gender in a fun way? Or have you been to a fun reveal? Did you reveal just your first baby or all of them? Tell me! Seriously, I need to know! I would love to know!

My Sister's Shower // Episode 3

My sister's wedding is even closer. Her friends threw her a shower. So much fun! She sure does have a lot of great friends that love her!

Her friends made her take a piece of sour gum every time
she answered a question differently than her fiance, N*.
