Surprise Anniversary Getaway

On Monday the 20th Matson and I had just finished eating a dinner at my parents house when he sprung on me that we were going out of town the next day to somewhere that was a surprise. I asked him what I needed and all that he said was clothes, toiletries, and a bathing suit. I was so stumped! I then asked him plane or car? He wouldn't respond. He told me that he got work off for me and that everything was taken care of.
This was right after he told me and this is me saying,
"You're kidding right. What about work? What about...."
On Tuesday we slept in a little bit then we got our bags in the car and we didn't go North, so we weren't going on a plane. We drove and I knew it had to be St. George or Vegas.

And Las Vegas it was!
We spent a couple days down there to celebrate our 2 anniversary. It was so great to get away from some of my little sister's wedding stress and just relax before school started the next week. We shopped, swam, read, walked around, and ate! Best surprise, Mats!
Pizza at BJ's. So good.
I even got Matson to shop with me.
This is the only picture I got of us both together
and we look like iPhone ghosts.
Watching the Bellagio fountains. Michael Jackson
and Frank Sinatra. Can't go wrong there.

Matson's Big Burger meal at Hash House A Go Go.
Yummiest food and HUGEST meals.
Matson's After Shot. He was stuffed. He couldn't eat
that fry in his hand. He had about half of his burger and most of the fries.

My After. Fail...I only ate some of the eggs (Mats ate others) and
a fourth of the pancake.
We had such a great time and really enjoyed spending time together, just us! I don't necessarily miss Vegas, but I miss just being with him and having nothing to worry about! Thanks Matson you really surprised me!

Annual Anniversary Picture

Time has flown by. Two weeks ago it was our anniversary and so much has happened since! Lots to update you all on, that's for sure. But for now I will leave you with our annual anniversary picture. I know we are so weird and take the same picture coming out of an LDS Temple around our anniversary because so many people get married in August (the crazy wedding month) so we get to be at the temple for weddings a lot and my cousin, a photographer, snaps one of us.

a few things i am loving

Happy Valentine's Day! (Ok..I am like days late here, trust me I know. But Matson and I were super busy on Tuesday and I don't get out of class until 9:30pm then he had a basketball game so it just was not going to happen. And now we are watching a family so our Valentine's Day is Saturday!! Seriously, we can celebrate love any day we want, right?)
Anyway...I love Valentine's and its CHEESINESS.
So I thought I would share a few things I am loving (cheesy or not).

1. Valentine's home decor around our home. And if you know me, then you know that I love to decorate for holidays, birthdays, or anything! Thanks to my mom who decorates like crazy. Only sad thing now is that it has to come down...meaning St. Patty's is going up!

I won this cute heart garland last year off a blog. Cutest garland ever! I love it!

I have one of these cheesy little lights for almost every holiday.
Find here from ShopKo.
Bought last year at Kohl's.

2. This nail color. I have had it since summer but as of late, it has been my go to nail color. It is totally a summer color, but who gives! I paint my nails and venture out to a tan or dark brown or purple, yet in between every single one of those colors I come back to this because I know it looks good and it dries super fast. Yeah, the brush kind of sucks, but I get over it when I only paid like 30 cents for it cheers for me for an actual good couponing purchase.

3. And these dang good fruit snacks that I got on sale last week at Smith's and bought like 6 boxes. I should not of bought them because I have had like 1 or 2 a day...oops! I guess that's why I go to the gym, so I can indulge in these babies.

4. And last but not least, Matson. Valentine's Day not only marked a day to celebrate love (which I already mentioned, we are celebrating on Saturday), but it also marks exactly 1 year and a half of us being married. I love that we were married on August 14th, because it means that every Valentine's Day is our 6 month marker. So next Valentine's day is 2.5 years, then the next 3.5 years, etc.

I know every wife thinks their hubby is the best and blah blah blah, but seriously Matson is the best, most hard working and loving man. I feel so much love for him, more than anything. I love the days when he just makes me sit/lay down with him and forget about life for just five minutes, and in those five minute breaks from homework, work, and stress I feel so blessed and I feel the same love butterflies that I felt the night we first kissed. I could go on and on about him and how lucky I am to have him...

Hope your love day was a great day!
And for all you wonderful single people out there, don't hate on Valentine's day next year. Look at it as a day to celebrate all kinds of love. The love you have for your mom, your family, yourself, Dr. Pepper (we all know that's Matson's secret second love), or maybe even for a favorite pair of shoes! Celebrate all kinds of love! I am looking forward to our Saturday when we continue to celebrate the love! haha.

Anniversary Tradition

We were at my friend J*'s wedding (which I posted about here) and my cousin (whose photography blog/website is here) was her photographer. She also was my wedding photographer. We were waiting for J* and her freshly new husband to come out of the door. My cousin needed to test lighting and such, so we snapped this shot:
Although we look more like a political couple, it still looks a lot like this shot:
I think we now have a new tradition. Every year around our anniversary (this was less than a week after our 1 year anniversary), I think we will go take this shot. A little weird? Yes it is, it especially will be when we are 70 years old walking out of the temple. Am I being serious? I don't know. I guess we will see next year, won't we?

Cruise 2011: Day 9

Farewell to the Cruise!

We woke up in the morning, wished each other a Happy 1 Year of Marriage!, got our bags, and headed to the dining room for our last breakfast on the ship. It was so fun we got seated with our ush (usual) waiters, Mario and JR, and got to see them and then say goodbye to them once again! After breakfast we went up to a table on the Lido deck and played cards until our number was called to get off the ship. That was kind of a process. We got off the ship, took a taxi to the airport, then waited at the airport a while until our flight left.
We spent our ACTUAL anniversary traveling back home, but really the whole week was like an anniversary celebration! I can't believe we have been married a year (and a month now, since I am blogging about this a month late...oops).

Well friends, that is the end of the cruise posts. If you want to ask me more questions about our cruise to the Caribbean, tips, or whatever just "call me, beep me, if you wanna reach me" thank you Kim Possible...but really you can facebook me, text, comment, whatevs!

happy {belated} anniversary to us!

We've been married for a year, like one year, one year peoples!

That's just so crazy to me but when I think about it really isn't because we have grown so much together. it's like that LDS Primary Children's birthday song that says, "one year older and wiser too". Our marriage is one year older and we are definitely wiser and have learned so much about each other and ourselves. we are so happy and still laughing and loving one another each day!

we spent our actual anniversary day flying back from our cruise. but really our cruise was like a whole week of our anniversary, which I will be blogging about it soon pinky promise it has just been a busy time since we've been home.

1 month anniversary

yipee for me!
well i guess...yipee for us!
today marks one month since matson and i were sealed. i will never forget that day and how special & fun it was! i hate to be so PDA but i already love matson so much more than our wedding day, i can't even imagine how much i will love him when we are sitting on our lazy boy chairs with dentures in our teeth, while watching our grandchildren play with their paper thin i-pods at age 91. well if matson is reading this...i love you mats & life is so much better with you in it!
