Winter Semester - 5th Grade

Hey there, it has been a while. I am finally back to blogging after a long hiatus. We have just been so busy and caught up in all the summer fun! So give me a little while as I try to catch up on the past few months. Starting with school...

This past winter semester in school I did my 2nd practicum (like a mini student teaching experience for a month) in 5th grade. I was so nervous to enter into that 5th grade classroom but by recess that day my mind had changed. 10/11 year old girls were not only walking up to my friend Ashley and I to just compliment us and get us to like them, but they were also pretty much pole dancing on these poles at the playground except they didn't name it pole dancing. They were totally oblivious to the whole pole dancing thing but it was hilarious and it was quite entertaining to me. You may call me the worst person in the world for finding humor in 5th grade pole dancing (that isn't really intended to be pole dancing), but if you saw them doing it you would laugh too. Below is a video of Ashley (Mrs. Hulme) trying "pole dancing". Haha.

I was there a month and I had a wonderful experience. Teaching math was a little intimidating especially when you get done teaching a whole lesson and then the students are looking right back at you with the most blank faces. Scariest faces ever. My favorite thing to teach was guided reading. With my group, we read two of my favorites Stargirl and Crash which are both by Jerry Spinelli. I made them cute matching bookmark schedules for each book. For Crash, I also gave them a "Crash Bag" which is a bag that they took home to find things that relate to the book.

On our last day they were all so sad and gave us the sweetest parting gift of hand written notes. Ashley and I gave them little gifts like "Smartie Pants" and fun pencils since they all seemed to struggle with keeping a sharpened pencil. (Copy & Print the "You're So SHARP" here) As we were walking out the door we had a hug train where all the kids stood in a line and each hugged us. So sweet. Moral of the story: 5th graders aren't THAT bad. They are just like my kindergarteners from last semester just a lot smarter and a little more smelly. Haha.

A Little Confession

Everyone that knows me knows that I love children. LOOOVE them.

Now, I have a little confession...I might just a little bit be baby hungry.

Just the thought that I could have my own little child seems so exciting and special, yet crazy and nerve wracking!

No, I am not pregnant. And no, this does not mean that I will be having a child now or anytime soon. I still have a year and a half left of school and I know that if I had a kid now I would not be a good student. When I am a mom I want to be able to be a FULL TIME Mommy, not a half student/half mom. By being a nanny and thinking of having my mom home full time, I have seen how important a mom is in a child's life.

This just means I am a little baby hungry and have realized how wonderful that time will be when it comes. Someday.

I have found the solution to this little problem. TA DA. Our friend's children. For now, these little kiddos bring Matson and I some good laughs and fun times until we have our own someday!

So now is the time when I brag about all our friend's cute little kiddos.

Matson's best friend, M*'s sister has the cutest little children. We are jealous of Matson's friend M* for having the cutest little nephew and niece so sometimes we pretend to be their aunt and uncle.

Little T* wanted to come home with us in Matson's "cool, big truck."

Matson and I with T*'s new little sister C* at her baby blessing luncheon.
I love this video of us and our friend's little boy C* from 2 or so months ago. We were playing peekaboo for a long time and he would get so scared. He is so fun to play with! Such a happy little boy.

Last Saturday we had C* and his parents and some other friends over to swim
and enjoy this nice warm weather here! He was too much fun.
He is adorable.
And congrats to our other friends B* and B* who just found out they are having a baby boy!

Wellp, see ya later peeps. I apologize for myself and my vomit of the mouth post about me being baby hungry which you probably do not even give an ant's bottom about. And just for the sake of not having an awkie (I never say that in real life but man, doesn't it feel good to type it?) conversation about me wanting babies but not wanting to have babies yet, you can just read this and we will just leave it at that.

a few {more} things i am loving

A couple weeks ago I shared some things I was loving. That was kind of fun to post about so I thought I would share some more things I am loving this week!

Maybe this will become a little series of posts...just maybe. I may get sick of telling you things I love each week and you probably don't give an ant's poop what little, weird things I love. Sooo let's not commit just yet.

1. Tea Time with Sophia Grace and Rosie (remember the little Nicki Minaj rapper and her back up dancer dressed in pink tutu's and tiaras?). This segment is hilarious and Taylor Swift is so precious with them. Nothing better than when they are CHOMPING down on their cookies and when Rosie talks all about her ex-boyfriend. If this doesn't make you laugh (or at least smile) then...go and remember "loads of jokes" or eat some "cotton caaandy."

2. My cheap, knock off watch. You know how Michael Kors watches are so in right now and I have so wanted one? Yeah, I love them so much, but I just can't justify paying 300+ for one watch that I wouldn't even use to actually tell me the time since I always use my phone, so it would serve as just a bracelet. So for New Year's Matson got me this jem of a watch and I have been wearing it lots lately, like daily.

3. Matson's Remote Controlled Helicopter. Not only does it supply us with some good entertainment, but it is dang hilarious to watch Rookie (my family's dog) chase that thing like it's a real life bird she wants to attack.

4. Glitter. Whether it be my glitter nails or my glitter Steve Madden heels. Finally wore them for the first time last week and now that I broke them in, I just know these jems will be worn frequently.

Me wearing them last week at the Utah Student 25 Gala

5. My phone's lock screen. You can download yours or another 1 of the 4 wallpaper options here.

This looks super fuzzy on here, but is perfect for the iPhone.

What are you loving lately? I would love to hear about them and feel free to put some good links to them in a comment for us all to see!

the small things matter most.

the smalls things matter most. at least to me.

like...

what direction the toilet paper is put on. which I am sure is a reoccurring battle with husbands, roommates, siblings, or whomever you live with. matters.

Came across this image this week.
I guess I am a faithful, logical, and sensible.

Or like...

just painting your nails and a good time what seems like 30 minutes of waiting for them to dry then freaking smudging one just one nail and you leave it be because you don't have another what seems like 30 minutes of waiting for it to dry. matters because the whole week I am just staring at that ruined nail.

Or like...

the moment I walk into my parents house and see this little face running straight at me. matters most.

Or like...

the little kiss your husband leaves on your forehead or cheek every morning before he goes to work. matters mosteven if you are the deepest sleeper ever and don't remember it more times than you actually do remember.

I know, I am not asleep but just pretend I am in PJ's rather than a wedding dress.

so "lift up your eyes" and think about what small things matter most to you?

This Will Never Get Old.

Multiple times a day I find myself going to the "Photos" and videos on my phone to see this video that makes me laugh every single time I watch it.

The little girl I nanny was missing her Mom so we decided to record a video to text to her mom who was out of town for a week.

My favorite is how she says, "Nooo" which sounds more like uhhh duh of course I have nothing else to say. And pretty sure we (Matson and I) quote this all the time "I love you and I kiss you all night."
